Big Girl

Is it just me or does this face look like it's matured a lot? While she is her regular ol' happy 3 1/2 year old self, she really has also grown up quite a bit this summer. It makes me kinda sad. I always tell her "Stop growing so fast! Slow down and be my little girl for a while" to which she excitedly replies, "But I AM growing mommy. Look at me. Can you see it!?!?!" And yes, I think I almost can.

September 2008

These photos pretty much sum Nia up. Busy girl who loves music, dancing, and gymnastic "routines." If you catch her at home, she's likely dancing and somersaulting her way around the house (Thank you for the dress from Panama Mr. Hans & Mrs. Suli!).

"Mommy, how do I write THOMPSON?"

So the other day while we were driving Nia asked me how to spell Thompson. I started out and Nia asked me how to make an H. I tried to explain - "2 lines with one across in the middle." I didn't think she would get it since she hasn't conquered even tracing letters in her workbooks. But, lo and behold - she wrote the first 3 letters perfectly before running out of room on her doodle pad! I don't know about you, but we were impressed! :-)

Germantown Festival

Last Sunday took us to the neighboring suburb's annual festival. Another great day full of fun rides, more face-painting and family togetherness. I think 3 1/2 is a great age - Nia's more independent, fun, full of conversation, and such a joy. We like our little threesome. Needless to say, Nia didn't like holding the rabbit.

Happy Ian

....doing his favorite things - playing PS3 games while hanging out with his number 1 little girl. These photos capture Ian at his happiest. :)

Bedtime Beauty

I hope it's not long-term vanity, but this girl is such a diva girl. She LOVES having long hair and I'll catch her tossing it around and playing with hairstyles. Saturday night after the fair and outdoor family concert, we went to our friends for an end of the day drink. Nia went to bed there and these are shots of her doing one of her favorite things - playing self hairdresser.

Delta Fair & Music Festival

We love this time of year! Finally it's cooling down and there are so many fun activities going on. Last weekend we were out doing fun family stuff both Saturday, Saturday night, and Sunday. Nia's discovered the joy of amusement park rides, had a blast at the petting zoo, and got a full tummy from fair food (gotta love that cotton candy!).

Labor Day Camping at Lake Nickajack

We had such a great time. Met 3 other couples there from various states - all had kids, so it was both an adult and children reunion of sorts. While it was a bit hot and bug infested we stayed busy and had lots of fun with a playground, swimming pool, and boating day, and so much good food. Nia enjoys traveling and adventures just like her mommy and daddy!
