Cartwheels

As mentioned below, Nia has mastered the cartwheel. She is so proud of herself. So her home dance and gymnastics routines continue.... and she now throws the cartwheel into them too. It's these little accomplishment that make an almost-4 year old happy. I'm proud of her too. :)

Congratulations!

Nia's been transfixed with our wedding story, looking at our photos, and asking about brides and wedding dresses. This morning she announced to Ian, "I'm getting married and you're going to be my husband!" She then asked me for a veil, went over hugged her daddy and gleefully said, "We're married!" This is the stuff memories are made of. I think it made Ian's day.....and set him up for the heartbreak he'll experience someday when she discovers boys, and falls in love with another.

A Face A Mother Could Love - Part 2

I made the post below and enjoyed looking at Nia's face photos so much, that I had to do a little walk down memory lane. Chubby, funny, sweet.... her little face has gone through some changes....but I've always loved it.

A Face A Mother Could Love

This is Nia from this morning. I'm back to sleeping on the couch after a minor setback with my back and it's recovery from surgery. One nice thing about that, is the sweet time together Nia and I have when she gets up and comes and climbs onto my couch bed. She was so sweet and loving this morning and my camera was sitting right there on the coffee table. I just love this little face (and the girl behind it too).

A True Gymnast

Nia's going to a new gymnastics gym. Unfortunately, it's 25 minutes away unlike the less than 5 that "The Little Gym" was. But, it was time to move on from the little kids gym to a real one where she'll stay if she chooses to stay with gymnastics. This one will take her through her high school years. I look at her out there in this BIG gym area and realize again how much she's grown up. I remember a little girl who cried at The Little Gym and didn't want mommy to leave the kids area. Now she happily dances around while choosing her leotard and with a new confidence since she mastered the cartwheel at home last week.

Thank you Grammy and Poppy

I really do appreciate you. And I now realize how much you did and sacrificed for us kids growing up. Thank you for being there for me and us this last time round. For those that don't know, I had pretty major back surgery. In pre-surgery discussions with my surgeon, it became clear I wouldn't be able to do everything for a few weeks post surgery. So, my mom and dad came to the rescue! They're gone now and I'm recovering really well, but I appreciate all they did to help. Trips to 'Paint a Piece', the children's museum, and park, cookie making, story telling, and game playing, etc., etc......you guys did a great job. Thank you.

Being almost 4 is hard work

I don't know when growth spurts stop, but I think they must still happen. Nia's been eating like a horse, and sleeping from around 8:30 at night until around 9am most mornings! I love it, but it means I can't count on her to be our alarm on Mon, Wed, and Fri school mornings. I tried that today, and we ended up getting to school after 9:30 (9am start). I hope they don't hold children accountable for parents tardiness! I really need to work on that so I don't teach Nia bad habits.....she already realizes mommy is always running late - this morning she even asked me "Are we late again?"
