Temps in the Low 80's

Isn't Gillia, the caterpillar cute?

Warm weather is finally here so the summer dresses, shorts, and flip flops have been broken back out. I love how little girls look in sun dresses and Nia is about as girly as it gets. She prefers to wear dresses, and is insistent about her hairstyles. She's a bit of an oxymoron though because she loves worms and bugs. She HATES flying insects, but worms, rolly-poly's, and of course caterpillars are so interesting to her.

Happy Easter!!

Easter Fun

The church with which Nia's preschool is affiliated had a great and nicely organized Easter party. After the egg hunt, the kids swapped their empty eggs for prizes, did crafts, and played in a bouncy.

Patiently waiting in line....

Going down a slide is so much more fun upside down!

Happy 4th Birthday Nia!

We had a very successful birthday party for mainly Nia, but Ian too whose birthday is the day after Nia's. Between BBQ (we smoked pork shoulders Memphis style!) and drinks for the adults, and a bouncy castle and princess setup for the young kids, as well as a WII for the bigger kids, all seemed to have a good time. Nia is THRILLED to be a 4 year old, but also talks constantly about being 24 years old. I don't know why that's the magic number, but she is consistent in telling us all the things she'll do when she's 24..... she's going to be a dentist, she's going to live in the red house next to our neighborhood park.... and I get flowers - "Mommy, when I'm 24 I'm going to get you a bunch of geranium's." :) True statement. :) Sweet, huh? The funny thing about that is is I don't even know what geraniums look like! So when I think about all the flowers she could mention that we have in our yard such as azaelas, daffodils, roses, etc that we DO have, it's interesting. And as I look back on her 4 years of life, I realize there hasn't been anything that hasn't been interesting.... and great.

And the adults had fun too

The bouncy rocked. Turns out, it's great fun for all. Uncle Donnie and Auntie Kay got in on the fun, as did mommy and daddy. I nearly hurt my healing back, but it was well worth it. And I am ok. Thank you Auntie Kay and Uncle D for making your visit once again coincide with Nia and Ian's birthdays. Come again soon!

Thanks for coming.....

Uncle Jay & Auntie Renee..... we loved having you and we miss you! Move to Memphis..... or GA and maybe we and K&D will meet you there!

Georgia Aquairium

We had a great, quick weekend trip to Atlanta. We all loved seeing Uncle Che and Auntie Vicki again, we stayed busy with our trip to the Georgia Aquarium (the WORLD's LARGEST), and attending a great baby shower. We drove the 6+ hours, and Nia traveled well - it continually amazes me at what a big girl she is. And one with definite opinions.... she knows exactly how she wants to do her hair, what she wants to wear, and how she feels she should do something! It's great to see her inner strength and understanding grow. But also so strange that this little person whose baby milestones astounded us has reached this point of learning and understanding. Parenthood really is such a crazy (but good!) adventure.

More GA Aquairium

It's been a little while since I've sat down and updated Nia's blog. As I make these two aquarium posts, I realize I haven't posted about Nia's 4th birthday (a smashing success). That's next on my long mental list of things to do...I haven't written thank you notes yet either!
